The film targets the agents of the Thirteen colonies that are initial who participated in the 2nd Continental Congress. 1776 depicts the three months of deliberation (and, paradoxically, acrimonious debate) that headed up to the signing of one of the most important documents at the real history of the United States, the Declaration of Independence.
