Infatuated with the notion to become rich, faculty student Jonathan Corliss dates Dorothy Carlsson to acquire her father's endorsement. When Dorothy tells Jonathan that she is pregnant and that her father will deny her mommy if he finds outside, Jonathan murders her, but he stages her death as a suicide. Since Jonathan works his way on Mr. Carlsson's payroll, Dorothy's twin sister, Ellen, investigates the apparent suicide.
