Mr.Micawber-like Dickensian character Uncle Murray lives with Nick, 12 years old. A social worker appears and falls for Murray and Nick. Instead of letting Murray keep Nick, the child welfare workers try to make him a more traditional guy. Murray's nephew attempts to mediate. The uncle's readiness to bend to society's wishes to save the connection alarms the uncle.
