An Russian drama focuses on the life span of revered religious icon painter Andrei Rublev. Drifting from place to put in a tumultuous era, the peace-seeking monk finally gains a reputation for his art. However, he also takes some some and has a vow of silence after Rublev witnesses unwittingly and a conflict will become involved. He takes steps towards becoming a painter as he starts to ease his troubled spirit.
