Ayn Rand was born in 1905 in the Russian city of St. Petersburg. In1926, when Soviet Communism was getting stronger, she ran away to the United States. She lived the rest of her life in the United States, where she wrote well-known books like The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Her life's work would be about freedom and being an individual.
