In this film based on a Neil Simon play, an uptight lawyer, newly-weds Corie, a soul, and Paul Bratter, share a flat in Greenwich Village. After their union, Corie attempts to locate a companion for mother, Ethel, who places up Ethel with neighbor Victor, and is now independently. Battle is caused by behaviour on a date that is double, and the couple considers divorce.
