Cattle baron Matt Devereaux raids a copper smelter that is polluting his water, then then divides his land. Son Joe gets three years in prison and takes responsibility to the raid. Matt dies from a stroke partially brought on by his own rebellious sons so if Joe gets out he plans revenge.
