In the class-obsessed and divided UK of the 1920s, two decided young athletes train to the 1924 Paris Olympics. Eric Liddell, a Christian born into Scottish missionaries from China, sees running as part of his worship of God's glory and won't teach or compete around the Sabbath. Harold Abrahams overcomes class bias and antisemitism, but neglects his beloved honey within his singleminded quest.
