The founder's 50-year-old grandson, Charles Dé, has had it: he speaks eccentrically to a reporter, recognizing his grandfather as a craftsman and his son as a businessman, but evasive about himself. He abandons his family and lives in with a young couple he meets by chance, cooking, reading, drinking, and discussing philosophy with them. Charles grows on the young couple. His family employs a private investigator to track him down, threatening his Bohemian lifestyle.
