In the 1950s, an alien bacterium settles in far-flung Siberia. In 2004, scientists in the United States working at a top-secret underground lab in Alaska clone the microbe. Just before the facility is completely locked down, a garbled distress signal is heard from the lab. This is the scientists' final message. A group of scientists and military personnel is in charge of determining what went wrong.
