Daryll Deever works as a janitor in a New York office building and admires Tony Sokolow, a television news reporter. Tony arrives to cover the news of a wealthy guy being murdered in Daryll's building, and Daryll introduces himself to her. Tony chases him, thinking he could have information on the crime, and he pretends to have it in order to see her. The killers are observing them while they play this game, presuming Daryll and Tony know more about the crime than they do.
