After 10 years of friendship, a group of twentysomethings heads to the ski slopes as Ian's father's guests. (Ian and his father are estranged since his father worked excessive hours while Ian was a teen.) Dad wants to talk, but Ian won't listen. Meanwhile, David is gay and virginal; Keaton, Ian's business partner, is unhappy that his sister Jane is pregnant and has no intention of telling the father; Lisa is everyone's friend but no one's lover; and John, trapped in adolescence, is constantly on the move. He introduces Carla, a German-born beauty, and soon loses her affection to Hans, a quick-talking ski instructor. It turns out that David and Manny both play chess. Soon, there will be a lot of surprises as relationships take new turns and things get weird.
