In this modern-day version of the Rasputin story, David Hemmings plays a promising senator, Nick Rast, whose young boy is terminally ill with leukaemia. A mystical faith healer, Gregory Wolfe, appears and seems to heal the boy. Rast's partner Sandy falls in love with Wolfe, however the powerful rate of interests behind Rast's profession, stood for by geriatric beast Doc Wheelan are much less satisfied with events.
