Playboy Henry van Cleve arrives and expires at the entrance to Hell, a final destination. The devil, however, isn't so convinced the standards of Hell are met by Henry. Convinced he is where he goes Henry recounts his life's actions, both negative and positive, including an act of indiscretion during his 25-year union to his wife, Martha, with the hope that"His Excellency" will get to the proper judgment.
