Jack Calgrove, a former POW, moves Heaven and Earth to reconcile with his children. Jack returns home to find his wife has dead and his children, considered orphans, are on a train bound for the West, crossing enemy lines. They join a Native American sharpshooter group and a freed slave to halt the railway.
