From the present, artist Tom Warshaw recalls his traumatic coming of age. Being a 13-year-old growing up in new york in 1973, Tom hangs out a mentally disabled man, with Pappass. Together with Tom's mother battling with depression the boy is abandoned to his own devices. Pappass feels begins acting and abandoned when Tom develops a crush on Melissa.
