Chris, a young English writer with aspirations of publishing his work, meets Sally Bowles, a vivacious cabaret performer, in Berlin shortly before the Nazis take power. Chris goes along for the ride as Sally indulges her lavish desires, but things take a turn for the worst when their Jewish friend, Fritz, runs into some difficulties.
