A Soviet spy satellite -- using stolen technology -- malfunctions and goes into a descent that lands it called Ice Station Zebra, from the British, which starts before falling quiet sending out distress signals. The atomic submarine Tigerfish, controlled by Cmdr. James Ferraday (Rock Hudson), is dispatched to save them.
