Alfred Chamberlain is played by Elliot Gould, a once renowned photographer who has fallen on hard times as a result of his decision to remove people from his images. He's also incapable of feeling or being passionate about anything. But then Alfred meets Patsy Newqvist, who decides to turn Alfred into "a strong, vibrant, self-assured guy, whom I can protect and care for."
