Giles De'Ath is a widower who dislikes anything new or modern. He goes to the cinema and falls in love with Ronnie Bostock, a movie star. Then, he finds out everything he can about the movie and Ronnie. After that, he goes to Long Island City, where Ronnie lives, and pretends that he likes Ronnie because he is a great actor.
