When unemployed dockworker Joey Coyle finds $1.2 million on an armored car, he takes the money and runs. After all, finders keepers, he says. He seeks guidance from his ex-girlfriend Monica, an investment banker, before turning to the mob for assistance. While Joey makes preparations to flee the nation, a detective is hot on his tail in order to reclaim the money.
