Phaen is a young man from the suburbs who loves music. He never passes up an opportunity to perform at religious fairs in his village. He meets Sadao and falls in love with her at one of the fairs. On their wedding day, Phaen gives Sadao a transistor radio, which the new family adores, and which gives Phaen great dreams of becoming a renowned singer himself.
