Idealistic and naive Jefferson Smith, leader of the Boy Rangers, is appointed for the United States Senate by the puppet governor of the Country. He soon finds, upon visiting Washington, lots of shortcomings of the political process as his earnest goal of a domestic boys' camp contributes to a battle with their state political boss.
