A lighthearted romantic drama starring Cary Grant & Irene Dunne as a couple who meet, fall in love, quarrel and reunite. While listening to a recording of"Penny Serenade", Julie Gardiner Adams (Irene Dunne) begins reflecting on her past. She recalls her impulsive marriage to paper reporter Roger Adams (Cary Grant), that commences a deliriously delighted note but ends to be filled with catastrophe. Different songs remind her of their appetite to have a young child, their union, these courtship, and the joys and sorrows they've shared. A flood of memories return for her since she ponders on the difficulties that are present and how they arose.
