Sheila Page, a Broadway star, shoots her murderous husband, Barney, on New Year's Eve. She flees her apartment and goes to John Friday, her producer. It's New Year's Day a year earlier when she arrives. She has been given the opportunity to redo her life and correct her mistakes, only to discover that the end result will be the same even though the path will be different.
