Teen Mary Cummings, who has"been Born Again her entire life," is about to go into her senior year at American Eagle Christian High School near Baltimore with her Fundamentalist Christian friends Hilary Faye and Veronica, both of whom have formed a woman group called the Christian Jewels. Every thing appears to be perfect--until Mary's"perfect Christian boyfriend" Dean tells her, because they truly are swimming underwater, so that he thinks he's homosexual.
