Plans for a film adaptation of a smash-hit play in 1950s London come to an abrupt end when a key member of the crew is murdered. When world-weary Inspector Stoppard and eager rookie Constable Stalker take on the investigation, they are pushed into a perplexing whodunit among the glamorously dirty theater underground, investigating the strange homicide at their own risk.
