Smilla Jaspersen, half Danish, half Greenlander, attempts to understand the death of a boy that falls from the roof of her apartment building. Smilla finds a trail of clues leading to a business that's made several expeditions that are cryptic . Scenes from the film were shot in western Greenland and Copenhagen. The film was entered in to the 47th Berlin International Film Festival.
