Like the play where it obtained, the film informs of the very early battles of composer Edvard Grieg as well as his efforts to create a genuine Norwegian nationwide music. It stars Toralv Maurstad as Grieg and also includes a global actors including Florence Henderson, Christina Schollin, Robert Morley, Harry Secombe, Oskar Homolka, Edward G. Robinson and Frank Porretta (as Rikard Nordraak). Filmed in Super Panavision 70 by Davis Boulton as well as presented in single-camera Cinerama in some countries, it was an effort to capitalise on the success of The Audio of Music.
