A young woman with no religious beliefs, Frankie Paige begins with strange and violent adventures, showing indicators of the wounds when crucified which Jesus received. Whenever the Vatican gets word of Frankie's situation, a high-ranking cardinal requests that the Rev. Andrew Kiernan explore her claim. Kiernan attempts to rescue Frankie, and understands that very black forces are at work.
