For as long as either of them can remember, Carrie Lowstein and Hannah Rosen have been unable to be apart. When Samantha Goldstein, a former Hebrew school student, kills herself, the two girls attend both her burial and a "Teen Talk-back" session intended to help them process their feelings about bereavement in light of their religious beliefs. The best friends are, however, sidetracked by the adolescent issues of lust, social standing, and questioning faith after an innocent kissing game turns Carrie's life upside down.
