Even a lone wolf scientist found in a mansion near a town arouses the feeling of the doctor of the town when his laboratory assistant is found dead from an instance of acromegaly which took just four days to develop. As a doctor investigates, aided by the scientist new, and female, helper, they discover that, much worse, something larger and more hungry than it ever should be, is currently devouring local cattle - and humans - in large quantities.
