An injury to the Trojans' new star player results in his death during a charity football match between Arsenal and the visiting amateur side Trojans. Inspector Slade of Scotland Yard is summoned, and he determines that it was homicide. It takes all of his resourcefulness, as well as another death, before the motive and the identity of the perpetrator are established.
