A violinist from a rural Polish orchestra, whose husband is the director, meets the world-renowned symphonic conductor in the US. He loved violinist's mother. A hypochondriac conducts the regional orchestra in Poland. He also uses the violinist as a surrogate mother to rekindle their love. Her husband resents the conductor personally and professionally.
