Since Napoleon Bonaparte Climbs to power in France, a Competition erupts between Gabriel and Armand, two lieutenants along with a perceived insult, in the Army. For more than ten years, they participate in a series of duels amidst battles, including the invasion of Russia in 1812, and changes in Europe's political and societal networks.
