William Freise-Greene was once a completely different man, now old, ailing, destitute, and mostly forgotten. He altered his name to incorporate his first wife's name in order to seem more impressive for the photographic portrait work he was so adept at as a young and gorgeous William Green. But he was also an inventor, and his quest for a technique to display moving pictures turned into an obsession that transformed the lives of everyone he cared about.
