An frustrated pianist himself, music journalist Myles Clarkson is excited to interview virtuoso Duncan Ely. Duncan, however, is ill and maybe perhaps not thinking about Myles until noticing that Myles' hands are appropriate for piano. He can't capture enough of his new friend, and Myles' wife, Paula, becomes suspicious of Duncan's intentions. When Duncan expires her suspicions grow and Myles becomes a virtuoso.
