Irish-American Vietnam veteran Michael Flaherty (Craig Wasson) returns to Belfast to support the cause of his grandpa Seamus (Sterling Hayden). He quickly discovers that his native country is not as friendly toward him as he had anticipated. Even worse, he is the target of an IRA assassination plot that aims to discredit the British military in order to gain the support of affluent Americans.
