A true story about a historic judicial battle. A woman (Park Overall) discovers that her husband has been having an extremely public affair with his secretary (Laura Innes), with whom he has pledged marriage. The wife seeks divorce and also sues the secretary under an obscure statute pertaining to alienation of affection, which was enacted to protect married couples from homewreckers. This creates a new courtroom concern, as the other woman's blame must be argued, and it eliminates consideration of the married spouses' fault.
