Cecilia is a waitress in New Jersey, living a Boring life. Her only escape from her the reality may be that the movie theatre. After losing her job, Cecilia proceeds to watch'The Purple Rose of Cairo' in hopes of increasing her spirits, where she watches racing archaeologist Tom Baxter again and time.
