Widower and A farmer in his 70s, Alvin Straight learns one day his distant brother Lyle has suffered a stroke and could not regain. Alvin is determined to get things while he still can, while Alvin is stuck without a car and no driver's permit in Iowa, but his brother lives in Wisconsin. He then strikes the idea of creating the trip on his old lawnmower, so beginning a picturesque and occasionally deeply spiritual odyssey.
