In this film adaptation of the Offenbach opera, a young poet named Hoffman broods within his failed romances. When he realizes that she's really a mechanical woman designed with a scientist his affair with the amazing Olympia is ruined. He believes that a prostitute that was stunning loves him , only to get out she had been hired to pretend her affections. Lastly, a magical spell maintains the life of his lover that is final.
