A disillusioned World War One flying ace is eking out a living as a barnstorming pilot/parachutist during the early 1930s. Even a brand new Orleans newspaperman runs round the pilot in a carnival that is two-bit and becomes more fascinated with his fall from grace, and so has been drawn into his iconoclastic way of life, He also finds himself attracted into the husband of the pilot.
