After a legal battle between director Michael Powell and producer David O. Selznick, Gone to Earth(1950) was recut. The following are the primary alterations made by Selznick:- (1) Incorporating a prologue. (2) Adding scenes that explain things, usually by using labels or inscriptions. (3) Increasing the number of close-ups of Jennifer Jones. He also cut a few sequences he didn't think were emotional enough. Sadly, several of them were significant storyline pieces, and the story no longer makes sense.
