Kayla leaves her substitute teaching position at a prestigious private high school early and returns to Stansville, North Carolina. Her devoted but perceptive mother arranges for her to have a job interview at her former high school on her first day back. Kayla is afraid to enroll even though she ultimately hopes to get accepted into a demanding teaching program in London.
