A storm traps an eccentric family on a Kansas farm. The familial patriarch is a retired soda tycoon. He's dating a kids' TV evangelist. His slacker daughter and her precocious 8-year-old daughter, his would-be artist son, his fiancée, and the black maid all live on the farm. Her ex-husband, a charlatan seeking redemption from his ex-wife, is also thrown into the fray.
