In 16th century Japan, Tobei and peasants Genjuro sell their earthenware pots in defiance of a blossom's warning against trying to profit from warfare, to some soldiers in a nearby village. Genjuro's pursuit of the Lady Wakasa and both riches, in addition to the desire to be samurai of Tobei, run the risk of ruining their wives, Ohama and Miyagi.
