Because a television channel's president, Max Renn is desperate for programming to entice viewers. When he happens upon"Videodrome," a television show dedicated to gratuitous punishment and torture, Max sees a possible hit and broadcasts the show on his station. But after his girlfriend auditions for that show and never returns, Max finds that the film violence might possibly not be as fake as he ever said and investigates the truth behind Videodrome.
