It was Paris in 1830. As he fights the Alchemist, a killer he has been hunting for a few months, Vidocq, a well-known detective, goes missing in the middle of the town. He was killed by Etienne Boisset, who was his young biographer. He decides to avenge Vidocq's death, so he starts looking into it himself.
