Back in WWII Western Germany, Personal David Manning leaves searches and a wounded fellow soldier for priests by his platoon to learn from officer Captain Pritchett they all have been killed in action. Despite requesting a discharge on the grounds of emotional disability, Manning is promoted to sergeant and assigned to cause a platoon of inductees.
